Built to the NASA Spec3 rules. NASA 2014 Eastern States Spec3 Champion!
-With some shock/spring and aero changes this car will fit into many other racing classes such as NASA GTS1/2, SCCA ITS/ITR, BMWCCA Prepared, etc.
-The perfect car to transition from Driver Education (DE) to racing. OR… use as a dedicated DE car and stop the risk of damaging your daily driver.
-With the addition of a wheel well fuel cell this is also a perfect platform for an enduro car. No Maintenance needed as everything is new as you will see below.
General:
This car is a ground up restoration build. EVERY part from the original street car was removed and inspected and then either cleaned, rebuilt, or replaced. All parts referenced as new below have 5 race weekends on them including the engine.
All parts on the car are built to the NASA Spec3 rules and required parts: Click here for the Spec3 rule set and required parts
Engine:
Completely rebuilt from the bottom of the oil pan to the top of the valve cover.
-All internal “wear” parts replaced with new: chain rails, chain tensioners, gaskets, etc… (crank, cams, and cam trays are original)
-ARP hardware: Head bolts, rod bolts, main bolts
-New OEM BMW pistons
-VAC oil pump
-Cleaned and flow tested injectors
-All external parts replaced with new: knock sensors, fuel pressure regulator, air mass meter, spark plugs, air temp sensor, fuel pump, throttle cable, intake elbow, etc… (Crank sensor and coil packs are original as they had no power increase found on the dyno compared to new parts.)
-Upgraded thick core S54 M Roadster radiator
-Euro expansion tank system (I ditched the plastic overflow hose and made a stainless steel piece)
Interior:
Professionally built 8 point cage with foot protection and all other standard safety equipment such as side net, center net, cage padding, etc.
-Schroth Hans Hybrid “Enduro” Harnesses
-Sparco head restraint seat
Suspension:
All subframes and OE suspension components were cleaned and repainted and look like new.
-E36 M3 control arms (Spec3 Req’d part)
-E36 M3 FCABs (Spec3 Req’d part)
-New tie rods
-E46 RTABS and shims (Spec3 Req’d part)
-Reinforced lower rear control arms (Spec3 Req’d part)
-Koni Sport shocks (e36 M3 front strut housings) (Spec3 Req’d part)
-New ARB linkages
-Vogtland Race Springs (Spec3 Req’d part)
-E36 M3 Eibach anti roll bars (Spec3 Req’d part)
-Vorshlag front camber plates (Spec3 Req’d part)
-Reinforced front subframe
-Reinforced rear subframe
-Reinforced rear chassis
-New wheel bearings all around
Everything Else:
Everything else has all the standard racecar upgrades and attention to detail. There is honestly too much to list but here are some highlights:
-Motul and Redline racing fluids: power steering, engine, transmission, brakes and diff
-Driveshaft center bearing and guibo are new
-New Diffsonline differential (Used one race weekend)
-All OEM body panels and new under trim panels/fenderliners
-Wire harness was trimmed and re-loomed to remove clutter and ensure no issues
-rebuilt brake calipers, new rotors, stainless braided brake lines
-Set of e30 m3 wheels with Toyo RR tires with 2 heat cycles
-Set of e34 “bottle cap” wheels with brand new Toyo rain tires never used (scrubbed for 2 dry laps to remove mold release)
